This product does not emit light of its own, so the standard review format will not be used and the product will not be assigned a rating. This website is mostly about light-emitting products, but occasionally, you'll see non-light emitting products on it too if it's something I use regularly and/or really like (this computer meets both of those criteria!). It *DOES* have several LEDs in it, so it's at least a bit germane to the theme of this website.

,
The Dell Latitude E6400 is designed to be used as a laptop computer (and I should say not exactly an "el-cheapo" model either!), not as flashlight meant to be carried around, thrashed, trashed, and abused; so I won't try to drown it in the cistern (toliet tank), bash it against a steel rod or against the concrete floor of a carport, let my mother's big dog's ghost, her kitty cats, my kitty cat, or my sister's kitty cat spring a leak (uranate) all over it, run over it with a 450lb Quickie Pulse 6 motorised wheelchair, stomp on it, use a medium or large ball peen hammer in order to bash it open to check it for candiosity, fire it from the cannoñata, drop it down the top of Mt. Erupto (I guess I've been watching the TV program "Viva Piñata" too much again - candiosity is usually checked with a laser-type device on a platform with a large readout (located at Piñata Central {aka. "Party Central"}), with a handheld wand that Langston Lickatoad uses, or with a pack-of-cards-sized device that Fergy Fudgehog uses; the cannoñata (also located at Piñata Central) is only used to shoot piñatas to piñata parties away from picturesque Piñata Island, and Mt. Erupto is an active volcano on Piñata Island), send it to the Daystrom Institute for additional analyses, or perform other indecencies on it that a flashlight might have to have performed on it. So this section of the web page will be ***SIGNIFICANTLY*** more bare than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight.

In fact, those photographs on this web page and the spectrographic analyses located directly below may very well be it.

TEST NOTES:
Unit was donated by an
anonymous person after my old faithful Emachines computer started getting cranky & pissy (slowing down like molasses in February, giving unrecoverable I/O errors, requiring frequent restarts, etc.), and was received on 05-21-13 (or, "2013 21 May" or even, "May 21, Twenty Stick-Boobs" if you prefer.

This will be the first new web page published almost exclusively on the new computer. I say, "almost" here because I still used the old computer to perform spectroscopy until I can get the spectrometer's software installed on this one.

UPDATE: 05-29-13
Performed multiple spectrographic analyses of its monitor using different viewing angle; also recorded .TXT spectrometer data files for each primary color (red, green, and blue) plus white.

UPDATE: 02-08-15
After the Windows XP operating system went to pot about ten days ago, I installed Ubuntu Linux on it -- therefore it can be properly called a, "Linux box" now instead of a, "Windows box".

UPDATE: 10-28-15
It's alive!
IT'S ALIVE!!!
I did a fresh install of Windows XP Professional (that took no fewer than five attempts!) and it finally 'took'. The onboard WiFi is shot, but I plugged in a USB WiFi dongle and installed the software for it, and I can finally get on the web.

I discovered that Microsoft Internet Explorer was blocking all Google websites (such as Gmail and YouTube; and it would not allow Google Chrome to install; but I was able to successfuly install Chrome Mobile from a USB flash drive and it installed on this computer; from there I was able to download & install the regular Chrome browser I'd been using.)

It needs more RAM (which I'll get when I have the $$$) but it appears to function properly as-is.

UPDATE: 10-13-16
On 09-27-16, I was processing a video shot by my drone, and the computer mysteriously crashed with a BSOD. So I cold-started it ( a normal procedure to boot after a BSOD) and was presented with this:

So I purchased a Windows XP recovery CD, which came on 10-11-16, but when I ran it, one or more files on it were corrupted -- rendering it unable to finish or boot. Subsequently I'm stuck with no computer probably until early- to mid-November.

UPDATE: 10-23-19
Product was stolen in Shelton WA. USA while awaiting shipping to me in Fresno CA. USA.
Therefore, the dreadful, "" icon must be appended to its listings on this website, denoting the fact that some true-blue total asshaberdasher has kyped it -- probably to sell for drug money if who I suspect stole it indeed did it.
