Wel, thuh kompenie thatt maiks thuh PackLite 16 kant spel thuh werd, "light" , but they still make an outstanding -- actually
***STELLAR*** product!!!

The LuminAID® PackLite 16 (hereinafter, probably referred to as simply the, "PackLite 16") is a very unique, novel, and totally outstanding product in the world of LED lanterns. It is solar rechargeable so you never, ever have to buy batteries for it or fuss with a charger and cords, waterproof (it floats actually!), and is easily deployed from its compact travel/storage mode by simply inflating it as one might blow up a beach ball. And to top it all off, you can select from three intensity levels or a blinking mode with the push of a single button (please see the video farther down this web page).

I saw the white-only version of the PackLite on the ABC television program Shark Tank on 02-20-15, and immediately knew that it had to have a home on my website. So I went to the luminAID® website at once and politely asked them for a sample for review on this website, and the rest is shall we say...seven stars of history (hint, hint, check the ratings stars at the bottom of this web page)

To use your shiny new PackLite 16, charge it first (see directly below), and THEN you can liven up that dull boring patio or put a little light in that yucky old hot tub.

Gently pull the air valve out of the (currently deflated) bladder, uncap it, and blow into it as though you were inflating a beach ball. Gently bite the valve as you exhale into it to allow for maximum airflow (and minimal inflation time). When the PackLite 16's body has filled and is bulging significantly (please don't overinflate it or it could pop like a balloon that's being blown up too much!), recap the valve and push it back into the PackLite 16's bladder.

To get the PackLite 16 turned on, press & release the circular red swich button on its upper surface as follows:

1st press: Maximum intensity.
2nd press: Medium intensity.
3rd press: Minimum intensity.
4th press: Blink mode.
5th press: Neutralises the unit.

Just like it reads on the back of many shampoo bottles: lather, rinse, repeat. In other words, pressing this button a sixth time turns the PackLite 16 on in maximum intensity mode.

You may deploy the PackLite 16 in any way you see fit; just place it onto a table, counter, vanity, etc. or even toss it into a pool or hot tub.

Photograph showing it floating in my lavatory.

Charging the PackLite 16 is so easy...just place it in the sun so that the solar panel faces up. A red LED on the upper surface of the unit will come on to indicate that the PackLite 16 is charging. Even normal household illumination will do the job here; though when using a lamp as the light source, charging time will be longer.

Fully charging the PackLite 16 takes 6 to 7 hours in direct sun.

A full charge should provide up to 12 hours of light.

Because this product was meant to be used as a lantern, not a flashlight meant to be carried around all the time, thrashed, trashed, and abused; I won't try to flush it down the toliet, bash it against the concrete floor of a patio or against a steel rod, let our kitty cats go to the bathroom on it, run over it with a 450lb Quickie Pulse 6 (electric wheelchair), or perform other indecencies on it that a regular flashlight might have to go through. So this section of the LuminAID® PackLite 16's web page will be substantially more bare than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight who's sole purpose in life is to be a flashlight.

Having said that, the PackLite 16 is waterproof and even submersible to a depth of 1 meter, so attempting to perform, "The Toliet Test" will be an excersize in futility. As you can see above, the PackLite 16 floats rather well in my lavatory (bathroom sink); the only possibility for water entry might occur if the product was held underwater and the air valve was deliberately opened.

TEST NOTES:
Test unit was requested immediately after I saw the product on the ABC television program Shark Tank on 02-20-15, and was received on the mid-afternoon of 12-24-15. The long lead time was due to the company's inventory being depleted by their Shark Tank appearance and again by the recent Nepalese earthquake.
