I found this light set at Wall*Mart while shopping for some other things, and being the LED geek that I am, I just *HAD* to have them.
The Halloween 100 LED Mini Lights (Orange) is just what they are called: a set of 100 orange LEDs that come in miniature incandescent-style housings that runs off mains power; they're specifically marketed to be deployed in and around your home as part of Halloween decorating (as if the all-orange lights didn't already clue you in) ;-)
They all operate continuously.
Lighted length is advertised to be 19.50 feet (5.90M).
SIZE
All you need to do in order to use the Halloween 100 LED Mini Lights (Orange) is string them up as you might a string of Christmas lights, then plug them up to a 110 to 130 VAC household wall receptacle (or, "wall outlet" or even, "wall socket" if you prefer to be incorrect); the lights should immediately blaze to life when this is done.
They are rated for both indoor and outdoor use.
String-to-string operation is supported; up to 45 strings of these lights can be connected; if you connect other brands of lights to this set, please be sure that the total wattage does not exceed 216 watts (1.80 amps).
The Halloween 100 LED Mini Lights (Orange) are intended to be plugged up to a 110 to 130 VAC circuit; they do not require batteries of any sort.
These light sets appear at least *reasonably* durable, in that they should not just fall apart on their own or through just casual handling.
This product is meant to be used as a Halloween light string indoors (or outdoors because they are immune to $#¡77Y weather but I don't believe that they're totally submersible), not as a flashlight meant to be carried around, thrashed, used, and abused; so I won't try to drown them in my toilet, bash them against the concrete floor of a patio or a steel rod, let my landlady's dalmations have a wee on them, run over them with a 450lb Quickie Pulse 6 (motorised wheelchair), or perform other indecencies that a regular flashlight might have to go through.
Photograph of the set, illuminated of course.
Spectrographic analysis of the orange LEDs in this light set.
Spectrographic analysis of the orange LEDs in this light set; spectrometer's response narrowed to a band between 600nm and 620nm to pinpoint the peak emission wavelength, which is 608.680nm.
The raw spectrometer data (tab-delimited that can be loaded into Excel) is at 100o.txt
TEST NOTES:
Test unit was purchased at a Wall*Mart store in Fresno CA. USA on 09-04-21.
The fact that two spare "bulbs" are furnished does not tell you that the LEDs are going to peter out quickly; it's because of a law that goes back to before LED light sets were even thought of that mandates that every set of holiday lights must include spare bulbs; this law has not yet been ammended to place LED light sets under exemption from it.
Having spare bulbs isn't necessarily a bad thing though -- if one of the bulbs in the set becomes physically broken -- such as if somebody accidentally slammed a door on it, you'll most definitely be thankful for the spares.
