The Kingman Focusable LED Flashlight (probably just called a focusable flashlight on the remainder of this web page) is an LED flashlight that features a high-powered LED focused by a strong convex (magnifying) lens; the beam's focus can easily be adjusted from a fairly tight spot to a very wide spot just by pulling the bezel in or out.

It operates from three AAA cells (that you furnish yourself) and comes in a handsome, dark grey plastic body appropriately-sized for the type and number of cells it uses.

To use this flashlight, install three AAA cells in it first (see directly below) and then you'll be ready to rock.

Press the button on the side of the barrel until it clicks and then release it to turn the flashlight on.
Press and then then release it again to neutralise the flashlight.

To adjust the focus, hold the barrel in one hand and grasp the bezel near the green ring with the other, and pull them apart to narrow the beam; and push them together to widen the beam.



To change the batteries in your focusable flashlight, unscrew and remove the tailcap, buy yourself an airline ticket and fly yourself plus the tailcap to Hollywood (put it in checked baggage if necessary), bring it to the set of the new movie, “Halloween V: Season of the Bitch”, have the special effects crew grind it into microscopic bits to have those itty bitty bits implanted into millions of Playtex and Tampax tampons, and...
O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So save your airfare & just set it aside instead.

Tip the black plastic battery carriage out of the barrel and into your hand. If necessary, remove and dispose of or recycle the used AAA cells from it.

Insert three new AAA cells into the carriage, orienting each cell so its flat end (-) negative faces the spring for it in each compartment.

Slide the now-full battery carriage into the flashlight barrel, orienting it so the pin on the metal contact on one end of the carriage goes in first. Finally, screw the tailcap firmly back on.

Aren't you glad that you didn't fly that tailcap to Hollywood where it would get ground into microscopic bits for the sake of some phoney-bologna fake Halloween movie now?

Due to how the flashlight was constructed, I am not able to take a current usage measurement for you.



This flashlight appears to be at least reasonably durable at minimum, and it is. When I beat the devil out of the poor, helpless, defenseless, innocent flashlight (fourteen whacks against the side of a brick wall: 7 smacks against the side of the bezel and 7 smacks against the side of the tailcap), only the expected damage was found. There is some very minor gouging on the side of the tailcap and some fairly minor gouging to the side of the bezel where it was struck.

No optical or electrical malfunctions were detected.




This is a brief video hosted on YourTube of me performing, "The Smack Test" on this flashlight.

The purpose of The Smack Test isn't to see how the flashlight's exterior would be damaged; it's about how well the interior components (driver circuitry, LED, etc) would cope with the high shock load (G-force) encountered whenever the flashlight strikes the brick wall.

There is a red plastic ring on the bezel which glows when the flashlight is in use. Although many users will not mind it, some users of this flashlight might find this glow objectionable.

Water-resistance is extremely minimal at best; when the tailcap was removed, the flashlight was relieved of its battery carriage and then suctioned, air had no problems passing through the flashlight. I mean, you can almost breathe through the silly thing.

For this very reason, you will not see me perform The Toliet Test on it.

So if it falls next to the mailbox and the dog does a wee on it, you'll probably want to deftly pick it up with rubber or nitrile gloves, disassemble it as much as you can, douche all of the parts under the tap (faucet), and leave the flashlight disassembled for a day or so just to be certain that it's dry before you reassemble & use it again.

Does this evaluation look an awful lot like the one that I made for this product?
Thought that you'd say so.
That's because they're optically and electrically very similar; the visible difference being the color of that glowing ring around the bezel.
