Holy Stone HS161 Drone (Pg. 1)
Last updated 02-17-21

Flights* of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-15-21 (2048 x 1152) (1)

Flights* took place (launched anyway) in the airspace over the 3600-block of N. Maple Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 3:55pm PDT on 02-15-21 (or, "2021-02-15T15:55" or "2021 15 Feb." or even, "February 15, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were cloudy, temperature was 60°F (15.6°C), and winds measured with my el stupido "strong rat urnie yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were generally dead clam at the surface but at even low flying altitudes winds were from the N. estimated to 4.00mph (6.44kph).

The music that you hear is zax from the GBA game, "Digimon Racing" by Griptonite from 2001 or 2002.

This product is not audio (sound)-sensitive in any manner; the music may safely be ignored or even muted if it causes you to become piddled off or makes your ears bleed. ;-)

While flying my drone, I "heard" this phoney-bologna fake fictional song, sung to the tune of, "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".
To wit:

? Fly fly fly my drone ?
? Fly it 'till I pee. ?
? Merrily ?
? Some butt wagon threatened the roasted turkey. ?

I found this drone to be a bit "twitchy" and its yaw (left & right rotation) was also found to be much faster than any other drone that I've flown.

* FlightS (note pl.) because when I landed to turn optical flow on, the drone refused to initalise so I had to power-cycle everything before relaunch.

Brief windy-day* cool weather** flight of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-11-21 (2048 x 1152) (1)

Flight took place (launched anyway) in the airspace over the 3600-block of N. Maple Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 7:37am PDT up on 02-11-21 (or, "2021-02-11T07:37" or "2021 11 Feb." or even, "February 11, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were mostly sunny, temperature was 46°F (7.8°C), and winds measured with my el stupido "rotten wild boar pee yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were generally variable to 4.00mph (6.44kph) but with occasional gusts to 10.00mph (16.10kph) at the surface.

The music that you hear is the choon, "Zomboy" by the EDM group Far Too Loud.

This product is not audio (sound)-sensitive in any manner; the music may safely be ignored or even muted if it causes you to become piddled off or makes your ears bleed. ;-)

To wit:

? Fly fly fly my drone ?

? Merrily ?
? Someone filled their SuperSoaker™ gun with pee. ?

I found this drone to be a bit "twitchy" and its yaw (left & right rotation) was also found to be much faster than any other drone that I've flown.

* Brief windy day because the wind speeds were a bit too high even for the optical flow of this drone could cope with, so I landed while I still had a drone *TO* land.

** Cool wx. (weather) in this context means an ambient temperature of 33°F (0.6°C) to 49°F (9.4°C) at flight time.

Flights* of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-11-21 (2048 x 1152) (1)

Flight took place (launched anyway) in the airspace near a futbol (socker) pitch, an unused group of three baseball diamonds, and a canal located alongside W. Dakota Ave. (some true-blue total ass blossom has it spelled *DACOTA* on their mailbox very nearby, hahaha!!!) between N. Cedar Ave. and N. Barton Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 2:59pm PDT up on 02-11-21 (or, "2021-02-11T14:59" or "2021 11 Feb." or even, "February 11, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were cloudy, temperature was 68°F (20°C), and winds measured with my el stupido "rotten wild boar pee yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were generally dead clam but with occasional gusts variable to 3.70mph (5.96kph) at the surface.

The music that you hear are a couple of choons by the German electronica group Kraftwerk.

? Fly it 'till it drops. ?
? Merrily some asshaberdasher ?
? Hoovered up my socks. ?

I found this drone to be a bit "twitchy" and its yaw (left & right rotation) was also found to be much faster than any other drone that I've flown.

* FlightS (note pl.) because I landed, turned optical flow on, then took off again.

Brief test* flight of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-07-21 (720p) (1)

Flight took place (launched anyway) in the airspace near a futbol (socker) pitch, an unused group of three baseball diamonds, and a canal located alongside W. Dakota Ave. (some true-blue total butt wagon has it spelled *DACOTA* on their mailbox very nearby, hahaha!!!) and N. Barton Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 10:31am PDT up on 02-07-21 (or, "2021-02-07T10:31" or "2021 07 Feb." or even, "February 07, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were mostly sunny, temperature was 61°F (16.1°C), and winds measured with my el stupido "rotten doormouse uranation yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were from the E to 3.60mph (5.80kph) at the surface.

In this video you can hear me give a blow-by-blow description starting with launch, and what happens when I hit that 30-foot cap; followed by me decreasing altitude, neutralising the optical flow, and then attempting to gain altitude again to see if I can break the 30-foot barrier or not. I then follow with landing, power-cycling both the drone and the radio, disengaging the optical flow, then taking off again to see what would happen. As you can see (and hear), I met with success this time. :-)

* Brief test because this flight was made by request of Holy Stone to see if they can figure out why my drone's altitude appears to be capped at approx. 30 feet (~9.14 meters); I used the Mobizen screen recorder app to record this video and I had the drone's camera deliberately tilted down as far as I could get it without camera breakage to allow the engineering staff at Holy Stone who view this video to see the altitude issue in real time.

And the results:
*SUCCESS!!!*
If I disengage the optical flow system *BEFORE* liftoff, the drone no longer has a 30' altitude cap! :-)

EXTREMELY BRIEF indoor night* flight of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-05-21 (2048 x 1152) (2)

Flight took place in our living room at 9:33pm PDT on 02-05-21 (or, "2021-02-05T21:33" or "2021 05 Feb." or even, "February 05, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

The music that you hear is zax from the coin-op arcade video game, "Afterburner ][" aka., "Afterburner Deluxe" by Sega from 1987.
This is the zax that plays when you coin-up the machine (put a quarter or a token in it).

This product is not audio (sound)-sensitive in any manner; the music may safely be ignored or even muted if it causes you to become piddled off or makes your ears bleed. ;-)

* EXTREMELY BRIEF indoor night because it was suggested that somebody attempt a night flight using only the drone's inbuilt headlight as the source of illumination; this video is the result.
The range hood light in the kitchen was left on to furnish extremely minimal illumation so that I could avoid tripping over or stepping on something that should not be tripped over or stepped on.

Because of the extremely minimal illumination, the optical flow positioning system was nonfunctional -- I knew this would be the case going in.

Cold weather* flight of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-05-21 (2048 x 1152) (1)

Flight took place (launched anyway) in the airspace over the 3600-block of N. Maple Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 7:25am PDT up on 02-05-21 (or, "2021-02-05T07:25" or "2021 05 Feb." or even, "February 05, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were mainly sunny, temperature was 32°F (0°C), and winds measured with my el stupido "rotten groundhog poddy yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were generally dead clam at the surface.

The music that you hear is zax from the Commodore Amiga computer demos, "äMPäri3", "Chaotic" and approx. 40% of the zax from the demo, "Grind" by the Amiga demo group Dekadence.

? Merrily merrily merrily merrily ?
? Fly it 'till I pee. ?

I found this drone to be a bit "twitchy" and its yaw (left & right rotation) was also found to be much faster than any other drone that I've flown.
The altitude appears to be limited to approx. 30 feet (~9.14 meters); I have not yet found out if this altitude cap can be defeated or not. :-/

* Cold weather in this context means an ambient temperature of 11°F (-11.7°C to 32°F (0°C) at flight time.

Brief* flight of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-05-21 (2048 x 1152) (1)

Flight took place (launched anyway) in the airspace over the rear parking lot of Hands-On Hydrophonics located at 3320 N Cedar Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 12:14pm PDT up on 02-05-21 (or, "2021-02-05T12:14" or "2021 05 Feb." or even, "February 05, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were mainly sunny, temperature was 64°F (17.8 °C), and winds measured with my el stupido "strong nutria poddy yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were variable to 2.30mph (3.70kph) at the surface.

The music that you hear are the choons, "Land Down Under" by Men at Work and, "Since You're Gone" by the Cars.

? Fly it all alone. ?
? Merrily merrily ?
? Some butt wagon neutralised a phone. ?

When I was bringing the drone in for a landing after stage 1 LVC sounded, it started doing this wierd toliet bowling as it was a couple of inches from the surface.

I also noted that the drone's altitude is capped at approx. 30 feet (~9.14M); there appeared to be no way to defeat this in the app.

* Brief because one of the videos was fuxxored (corrupted) and could not be salvaged. Turns out the MicroSD chip itself had become corrupted; I reformatted it while I was processing the surviving video.

Brief* maiden flight of my Holy Stone HS161 Foldable Drone 02-04-21 (1080p) (1)

Flight took place (launched anyway) in the airspace over the 3600-block of N. Maple Ave. in Fresno CA. USA at 5:08pm PDT on 02-04-21 (or, "2021-02-04T17:08" or "2021 04 Feb." or even, "February 04, Twenty-Twisted-Stick-Tire" if you prefer).

Weather conditions at flight time were mainly sunny, temperature was 56°F (13.3°C), and winds measured with my el stupido "strong gerbil poddy yellow" portable digital "windometer" (as JD from JD Quad in the UK calls them even though the sodding things are actually called, "anemometers") ;-) were generally dead clam at the surface.

The music that you hear is the choon, "Paradise City" by Guns 'N Roses.

This product is not audio (sound)-sensitive in any manner; the music may safely be ignored or even muted if it causes you to become piddled off or makes your ears bleed. ;-)

While I was flying the drone, I "heard" a jingle for Bob's Discount Furniture but with altered lyrics.
To wit:

? Bob's Bob-O-Pedics ?
? From your ßµñg#Ø£€ to your ?€nµs ?
? Some butt wagon farted in my shoes!!! ?
{~850ms pause}
? Bob's Bob-O-Pedics! ?

* Brief because I had a devil of time attemptig to launch it; once I had it flying I couldn't tell if video recording was on or not. So the first five minutes never got recorded -- once I figured it out I landed, started recording, and then resumed the mission.
