This is the OWL (stands for Optical Wallet Light), which is a device about the size of a bank card that not only has a fresnel lens in it to magnify printed material, but has two white LEDs in it to illuminate what you're reading if you're in a dark location such as a restaraunt or an automobile without the courtesy light on.
This is the "Platinum" version; featuring two LEDs instead of one.
Thuh kompeny thaat maiks thuh produkt kant spel thuh werd "bright" but I still think the product is ok.
*It was provided as a "freebie" when I purchased a set of "StickUp Bulbs" from a television commercial website.
SIZE
To use the Wallet Owl, hold it several inches above the surface you want to read, and read the material through the magnifying lens.
To activate the light, hold the Wallet Owl at the top and bottom of its right-hand edge with your thumb and index finger, and press in on the black portion of the lower right edge with your thumb. The material you're reading will then be bathed in a soft bluish-white light, allowing you to read in the dark. Release your thumb pressure to turn the light off.
The Wallet Owl has been designed as a disposable product, so this section of the web page will be rather bare.
Because the Wallet Owl is primarily made of plastic, "The Smack Test" really isn't that appropriate here.
"The Toilet Test" is also inappropriate. There are no O-rings or other environmental barriers visible.
So please try not to drop it in creeks, rivers, ponds, lakes, oceansides, docksides, puddles of albino rat pee, slush piles, mud puddles, tubs, toilet bowls, cisterns, sinks, fishtanks, dog water dishes, or other places where water or water-like liquids might be found. A little rain or snow probably wouldn't hurt it though, so you need not be too concerned about using it in lightly bad weather - if you're outside reading a book on "A Dark & Stormy Night", that is.
Even though the product is designed to be disposable, the magnifier portion of the Wallet Owl will continue to function even though the light portion no longer functions.
Photograph of black printing on white paper using only the light from the LEDs.
This was taken through the magnifying lens in the Wallet Owl.
Spectrographic analysis of the LEDs in this product.
Same as above; newer software & settings used.
USB2000 spectrometer graciously donated by P.L.
TEST NOTES:
Unit was provided as a "freebie" when I purchased a set of "StickUp Bubs" from a television commercial website, and was received on 08-08-06.
Product was made in China. A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I published it on this web page.
