This is a 12" UVA ("blacklight") fluorescent fixture. It can be operated from batteries (8 AA cells), or from the cigerette lighter socket in your automobile via the included adapter cord.

It comes in a black plastic body, with a transparent, clear window where the tube is.
There are two flat places on the bottom, where the included squares of velcro can be attached, so you can hang it from a wall without punching holes in the wall or driving screws.

The lamp's light-emitting device is a 12 inch "flourescent" "lite" "blub" (fluorescent light bulb) . Although it is made of glass, it just won't break on you with no provocation.

To use the fluorescent blacklight, feed it first if necessary (see directly below). Slide the slide switch on the side of the light's body toward the "ON" position to turn it on, and slide the switch toward the "OFF" position to turn it off. These positions are clearly marked on the light's body.
Yes, it's really that easy.

To use the blacklight with the cigerette lighter cord, plug the large end into the cigerette lighter receptacle in your vehicle, and plug the small end into the DC-In jack on the lamp's body, right near the on/off switch. Operate the lamp as described immediately above.



To change the batteries, remove the battery door from the end of the lamp, and set it aside.

Tip the lamp over your hand so the used batteries fall into it, and dispose of or recycle them as you see fit. Shake the lamp vigorously if necessary to remove any stubborn cells.

As the lamp is open-end up and the battery chamber is facing away from you (so the fluorescent light bulb faces your chest), insert four AA cells into the left-hand chamber flat-end (-) negative first, and insert four more AA cells in the right-hand chamber button-end (+) positive first.

Place the battery door back on so the two plastic tits on it go into the receptacles for them on the lamp body. Snap it closed.

I already broke mine, so I have three pieces of heavy-duty mailing tape holding the door in place.

Measures 255mA on my DMM's 4A scale.


I don't yet know how to change the fluorescent light blub when necessary, so I don't yet have that information on this web page.



This product is meant to be used as a portable source of UVA radiation in a dry area, so I won't try to flush it down the toilet, bash it against the corner of a concrete stair or a steel rod, let the cat go to the bathroom on it, run over it with a 400lb Rascal, or perform other indecencies that a regular flashlight might have to go through. So this section of the web page will seem more bare than this section of the web page on a page about a flashlight.

This lamp is not water-resistant or submersible. So please try not to drop it in creeks, rivers, ponds, lakes, oceansides, docksides, puddles of white rat pee, slush piles, mud puddles, tubs, toilet bowls, cisterns, sinks, fishtanks, dog water dishes, or other places where water or water-like liquids might be found.

If it fell in water and you suspect it got flooded, disassemble it as you would for a battery change, dump out the water if necessary, and set the parts in a warm dry place for at least a few days just to be sure it's completely dry inside before you reassemble and use it again. Never use this product if it fell in water or you suspect it got douched without drying it out first, because there is a high voltage inverter inside. And as most of you know, water and electricity do not play well together.

If it fell into seawater or if somebody or something peed on it, douche all the parts out with fresh water before setting them out to dry. You don't want your fluorescent UVA lamp to smell like seaweed or piss when you go to use it next. Besides, salt (from seawater or pee-pee) can't be very good for the inverter circuit, the battery contacts, or the on/off switch.
