5mm water-clear blue LED, $0.44, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 5T47UB5C-O
(No minimum order required)
(Received 11-08-04 tested 03-08-05)

This is a standard 5mm blue LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a pure blue, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 470nm. In my opinion, the light is not greenish in any manner. I do not have a working spectrometer at the moment, so this wavelength and all other Hebei LED wavelengths are "eyeballed" and approximate.

The beam that comes out of this LED is what I could best describe as a wide spot, and consists of a narrow, slightly dimmer central spot, surrounded by a brighter penumbra, surrounded by a very dim corona which falls off very sharply to extinction. This is fairly typical of 5mm LEDs in clear packages.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the total beam width is approximately 30°.

Intensity is 4,920mcd at a forward current (If) of 25.5mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 3.218 volts across this LED at 25.5mA.

8mm water-clear white LED, $0.34, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 8147UWC
(No minimum order required)
(Received 11-08-04 tested 03-07-05)

This is an 8mm round white LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a slightly bluish-white. It has an approximate color temperature of 5,900°K.

The beam that comes out of this LED consists of an annular ring (penumbra) surrounding a dimmer central area. The total beam width is approximately 25°. Although this is very similar to the other 8mm white LED on this web page, the central darker area in this LED's beam is smaller than the one in the other LED's beam.

Intensity is 6,910mcd at a forward current (If) of 25.5mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 3.319 volts across this LED at 25.5mA.

5mm water-clear orange LED, $0.14, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 5347UBC
(No minimum order required)
(Received 11-08-04 tested 03-06-05)

This is a standard 5mm orange LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a very slightly reddish-orange, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 614nm. I do not have a working spectrometer at the moment, so this wavelength and all other Hebei LED wavelengths are "eyeballed" and approximate.

The beam that comes out of this LED is a medium spot, with a squarish hotspot in the center, surrounded by a dimmer ring, surrounded by a brighter penumbra, surrounded by a dimmer corona. This is fairly typical of 5mm LEDs in clear packages.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the total beam width (hotspot and penumbra) is approximately 23° wide.

Intensity is 4,210mcd at a forward current (If) of 25.5mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 1.983 volts across this LED at 25.5mA.

5mm water-clear blue LED, $0.14, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 5B41UBC-D2
(No minimum order required)
(Received 11-08-04 tested 03-04-05)

This is a standard 5mm blue LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a pure blue, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 468nm. In my opinion, the light is not greenish in any manner. I do not have a working spectrometer at the moment, so this wavelength and all other Hebei LED wavelengths are "eyeballed" and approximate.

The beam that comes out of this LED is what I could best describe as a narrow flood, and consists of a narrow, irregular spot, surrounded by a ring, surrounded by a dimmer corona with a soft fall-off toward its perimeter. This is fairly typical of 5mm LEDs in clear packages.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the total beam width is approximately 33° wide.

Intensity is 1,640mcd at a forward current (If) of 25.5mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 3.671 volts across this LED at 25.5mA.

8mm water-clear white LED, $0.39, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 8347UWC

Intensity is 6,920mcd at a forward current (If) of 25.5mA.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 3.620 volts across this LED at 25.5mA.

5mm water-clear lensless (flat top) green LED, $0.23, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 5N47LPG2C
(No minimum order required)
(Received 11-08-04 tested 03-04-05)

This is a flat top (lensless) 5mm green LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a very slightly whitish-green. It has a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 524nm. I do not have a working spectrometer at the moment, so this wavelength and all other Hebei LED wavelengths are "eyeballed" and approximate.

The beam that comes out of this LED is a wide flood, with a beam width of approximately 155°.

Intensity is 1,740mcd at a forward current (If) of 25.5mA.
Remember, wider viewing angles *always* equal lower mcd values.
Forward voltage (Vf) is 3.445 volts across this LED at 25.5mA.

5mm water-clear orange LED, $0.05, www.hebeiltd.com.cn..., 5T47LEC610
(No minimum order required)
(Received 11-08-04 tested 03-04-05)

This is a standard 5mm orange LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a very, very slightly amberish-orange, reminicent of the gas discharge in a neon nightlight. It has a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 610nm. I do not have a working spectrometer at the moment, so this wavelength and all other Hebei LED wavelengths are "eyeballed" and approximate.

The beam that comes out of this LED consists of a narrow squarish spot, surrounded by a dimmer ring. This is fairly typical of 5mm LEDs in clear packages.

I do not have an instrument for measuring viewing angles, but in my estimation, the beam width of the central hotspot is approximately 12°.

Light color is somewhat less reddish than this photograph depicts.

This is a standard 5mm red LED in a water-clear epoxy case.

The light it outputs is a very, very slightly orangish-red, with a dominant wavelength (where you would point to on a color chart) of approximately 640nm.

All 3mm, 5mm, 8mm, and 10mm Hebei I.T. Shanghai Co. Ltd. LEDs were powered with a Hosfelt Electronics LED tester, outputting a known current of 25.5mA from the receptacles the LEDs were tested in.
High-flux ("spider") LEDs were powered with a Mid-Eastern variable voltage, current-clamping power supply, with the current set to the individual LED under test.
