In reference to a package I received from www.j2ledflashlight.com on the morning on 05-31-05:

This is an LED flashlight that uses a 0.5 watt white LED, and uses just a single AA cell for power.

It comes in an almost all-aluminum body, and is water-resistant and even waterproof. This wasn't expected of a Nuwai product, but is a very welcome improvement.

To use the torch, feed it first (see directly below), and then you'll be ready to rock.

Press the button on the tailcap and then release it turn the torch on, and press and release the button the same way again to turn the torch off.

Things just don't get much easier than this...well, not flashlights, anyway.

There is no momentary or signalling mode available on this flashlight; please do not look for or expect to find one.



To change the battery in your spiffy new torch, unscrew and remove the tailcap, throw it in the {vulgar term for feces}bole, yank that silver handle on the front of the cistern down, and flush it away...O WAIT!!! YOU'LL NEED THAT!!! So just set it aside instead.

Tip the used AA cell out of the barrel, and dispose of or recycle it as you see fit.

Insert a new AA cell in the barrel, button-end (+) positive first.

Screw the tailcap back on, and be done with it.
Aren't you glad you didn't flush away that tailcap now?

The torch appears to be reasonably sturdy. Ordinary flashlight accidents should not be enough to do it in. I administered the smack test on it (ten whacks against the corner of a concrete stair; five whacks against the side of the tailcap and five whacks against the side of the bezel), and found the expected damage. There is some rather minor gouging on the sides of the tailcap and bezel where it was struck. No optical or electrical malfunctions were detected.

The torch appears to have a Type II black anodized finish. Some bare metal was exposed during "The Smack Test" directly above, which tells me that it has a Type II anodizing, not a Type III hard anodizing. The threads on the tailcap are not anodized, which some people prefer.

I was able to cut through the flashlight body to expose bare metal with the blade of an unknown-type lockblade knife I found on the street a few days ago. This too shows it has a Type II anodized finish to it.
Would I really try to cut up a brand spanken new flashlight?
You bet your sugar-coated toilet muscle (sweet patootie) I would, if it's in the name of science.

Water-resistance is excellent. No leakage was detected when that dreadful suction test was performed on it. So you should have no concerns about using it in bad weather, and shallow water landings should not kill it either. This is a definite improvement over previous Nuwai products which are not leakproof. There is an O-ring on the barrel that seals the tailcap when it is screwed down; so I don't believe it will leak there either.

A spring steel pocket clip is attached to the torch; this allows for bezel-up carry if you wish to use it. It does not appear to be easily removeable; though I have not tried that hard to remove it.

There is no knurling or other texturising on this torch; so this flashlight may be a bit slipperier than a similar sized flashlight that has knurling or other texturising on it.
